Wedding Shower

These lovely orange and navy cupcakes were for a co-worker's surprise wedding shower at BB King's downtown. She was completely surprised!

A gross of mini cupcakes

My husband's hotel ordered 12 dozen mini cupcakes for a client event today. Whilst my biggest job to date (and it being due on a Thursday), I took it! It really turned out to be not as bad as I thought it would be time-wise and I heard they were a big hit!

(I uploaded these pictures backwards and don't want to re-do them...)

The leftovers...our co-workers got to enjoy the overruns.
The pile of boxes...the 7th box was an additional dozen I sold to a co-worker.
Red velvet with cream cheese frosting.
This picture gives you an idea of what our dining room table looked like last night - all red velvet and pumpkin spice!
Yellow with chocolate frosting.

Monster Cookies

I made a bunch of these and shipped them off to my brother-in-law and kids in Pittsburgh last week. Peanut butter, oats, chocolate chips, M&Ms...what's not to love?

Streusel Topped Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

Alright, I admit - these were basically cupcakes. And we had them for breakfast. We are not ashamed. :) But oh. my. They were soooo good. Built off a spice cake mix, plus pumpkin and reduced fat sour cream, etc. Got this recipe from Our Best Bites, a food blog I follow regularly and have first-round success with nearly every recipe I've gotten from them.

My August birthday...delayed post

I was cleaning pictures off my new SmartPhone and realized I'd never posted pictures of the birthday cake Chris made for me this year! It was Cinnamon Swirl - and he even made buttercream from scratch! (With a little assistance from me...) We went to a local taco place called Taco Mamcita for dinner and took the cake with us - this first picture is me trying to keep the flame lit because the fans were on high above us!

A Monkey Birthday

One of Chris's co-workers ordered these cupcakes for her son's 2nd birthday party. She was using the Paul Frank Monkey theme and since I didn't really have the skills (or the surface space) to put a monkey on each one, she came up with this idea. I think they turned out pretty good!

Just a few things I've been doing...

Some Oatmeal Raisin cookies for Chris to take to a friend's house for their annual Steelers' game together.

And this picture is actually something Chris did. :) Chris made this corn bread in his cast iron skillet yesterday. We got some fresh ground corn meal at a local festival and Chris just had to make some. It was perfect!

Made some wheat bread...perfectly soft and fluffy!

These cupcakes were made for my friend Melissa's birthday. They are lemonade cake with fresh lemon juice & zest, topped with fresh strawberry buttercream. Divine!

I made this Chicken Corn Chowder from scratch a couple weeks ago. It turned out great!

Coleman's 10th Birthday

Coleman was the kiddo who requested a giant chocolate chip cookie that prompted me to start making these. When I delivered today and he saw it, he said - "This is EXACTLY what I wanted!!!"

Cake pops in BGA (Battle Ground Academy) colors!
Made a dozen of these cookies & wrapped them up for the favor bags.

Giant chocolate chip cookies are my latest thing...

I had a friend ask if I could make a giant chocolate chip cookie for her son's upcoming birthday. I said, "Let me research that." Sure enough, found a GREAT Emerl Lagasse recipe and voila - my latest popular item was born. I took my sample cookie into work for co-worker testing/approval (which included raves from non-cookie people), and promptly got another order! This one was made for my co-worker Maggie's friend late last week.

Strange pancakes...

I've made a lot of pancakes in my life but I've never had batter make "pointy" pancakes. We've been trying to utilize recipes we've ripped out of our Food Network magazines & I tried this recipe from Pat Neeley the other night. The wet to dry ingredients ratio seemed to be waaaayyy off and they were super thin and didn't cook up AT ALL like the picture - they were more crepe-like.

But, they tasted o.k. - I had added some fresh peaches to the batter. Needless to say, that recipe went in the recycling bin. :)

Peach Cobbler, Football Cookies and...Meatballs?

I made this peach cobbler earlier this week - it's one of Chris's favorites. We had picked up some fresh peaches at the Farmer's Market and they just had to be used!

Football cookies for the Steelers' season opener. Too bad they didn't show up for the game. Ugh.
I got Chris this meatball grilling basket for his birthday & he hadn't put it to use yet. So we broke it out for the Steelers' game & made meatball sandwiches. Delicious!

Honey White Bread

Tropical Depression Lee has settled over Middle TN for the next few days, so I decided to bake some bread on this cold, wet day - now the house smells great! This is Honey White Bread, recipe by Ina Garten. Turned out great! We are having it with some baked pork chops tonight.

Leftovers...

I collected up all the overruns from my very busy August baking & took them to work last week!

AKA Cupcakes

My co-worker Marie ordered these pink & green cupcakes for her daughter who is in AKA sorority at Vanderbilt.

Pink Poodle in Paris

Betcha never seen this before, huh? Me either. This was requested by Miss Isabel, who turns 6 this week. I work with her mom and I've done her cake for 3 years now. It was oh-so-pink (the pictures don't really do it justice), inside and out! And she loved it - that's the important thing! :)

Cake Pops for Monika

Made 3 dozen of these strawberry cake pops today for my friend Monika's birthday.

Just in case you wanted to know what the inside of a cake pop looks like! :)

My last August job later next week is a "Pink Poodle in Paris" cake for a repeat customer who is turning 6! Stay tuned for pictures...I don't even know what design I'm going to end up with!

My littlest taste tester

This is little Miss Carrigan, Zac's little sister (you know, the Star Wars cupcakes kid!). She walked right into our kitchen and looked at her mommy and said, "Cookie?" She knows our house well! I didn't have any cookies, but I did have some extra mini cupcakes, which she gladly accepted. How cute is she?!

My favorite Cape May treat

We go to Cape May, NJ every summer for a week with the Fleming family & just made the annual trek the last week of July. My hands-down favorite treat is Kohr Bros. frozen custard with LOTS of rainbow jimmies. It's best when they just dip the cup into the giant container of jimmies and scoop up a bunch of extras. The fave flavor? Orange/Vanilla Swirl. Heaven.
